چکیده
We report on the use of a novel constrained optimisation algorithm for calibrating finite element model in an eddy current inspection application. An accurate forward is often important such applications training neural networks or as part iterative solver. However, subject calibration has not received much attention literature to date. consider multi-frequency, depth profiling application, which non-destructive testing nuclear industry. In algorithm, we Levenberg-Marquardt and bisection search ensure constraints are satisfied, coupled with truncated Gradient Hessian method. calibrate two types models, one using filament representation coils other full 3D approach. The results show feasibility non-linear tuning parameters. mean signal-noise ratio after spectrum was 29.47 dB 28.96 filament; contrast SNR measured coil parameters 1.48 4.98 uncalibrated respectively. that competitive (within graphite application); therefore, computationally faster can be used minimal effect accuracy.

Performance of Large Scale Finite Element Eddy Current
Modeling of 3-D eddy current problems require a large number of mesh points resulting in systems of equations with tens of thousands of unknowns and bandwidths in the thousands. Although special solution routines exist [5-8], capable of handling relatively large systems with limited resources, the solution of such vast systems is either impossible on conventional computers or the solution times...
متن کاملA T -ψ Finite Element Method for a Nonlinear Degenerate Eddy Current Model with Ferromagnetic Materials
This paper is devoted to the study of a fully discrete T -ψ finite element method based on H-decomposition to solve a nonlinear degenerate transient eddy current problem with ferromagnetic materials. Here, the ferromagnetic properties are linked by a power material law. We first design a nonlinear time-discrete scheme for approximation in suitable function spaces. We show the well-posedness of ...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Finite Element Method for the Eddy Current Model with Circuit/Field Couplings
We develop an adaptive finite element method for solving the eddy current model with voltage excitations for complicated three dimensional structures. The mathematical model is based on the A−φ formulation whose well-posedness is established. We derive the a posteriori error estimate for the finite element approximation of the model whose solution is not unique in the nonconducting region. Nume...
متن کاملFinite Element Model Calibration Approach for Ares I-X
Ares I-X is a pathfinder vehicle concept under development by NASA to demonstrate a new class of launch vehicles. Although this vehicle is essentially a shell of what the Ares I vehicle will be, efforts are underway to model and calibrate the analytical models before its maiden flight. Work reported in this document will summarize the model calibration approach used including uncertainty quanti...
متن کاملImpedance Evaluation of a Probe-Coil’s Lift-off and Tilt Effect in Eddy-Current Nondestructive Inspection by 3D Finite Element Modeling
The probe-coil’s lift-off and tilt variations will cause noise signals that can obscure the valuable signals when the surface inspection is performed. Prevention of noise signals due to lift-off and tilt variations is an important element in most eddy current inspections. In this paper, the electromagnetic field and impedance of a cylindrical probe-coil have been calculated numerically for arbi...
